Ironman 2 trailer has finally been released, originally debuting off of Apple's site but now available for the viewing public on YouTube. Ironman, or Tony Stark, is now in full view of the public as he has announced at the end of Ironman that he was, well, Tony Stark. With this one aiming to be a lot darker and more focused on Stark's problems, we also get the delight to see War Machine will be part of this movie...

From the director of The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan premiered this teaser trailer of his upcoming new movie, Inception. Inception, is basically a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind - or at least according to Warner Bros., who are distributing/financing the film...
I am usually not a huge believer in movie-hype, as I've been disappointed so many times... (Transformers 2, Wolverine anybody?). But you may have seen the MNU posters around. You may have seen the websites set-up in support of it (or against it). You may have seen the trailers...yet you aren't sure if you should buy into it only to be disappointed with it. I was like that, but that was before this one blew me straight out of the water. GREAT filming, plot, and pace, this drama/thriller/action film is the perfect ending note to summer, and a reminder why you had faith in movies (and hype) in the first place. This is why I'd rate it 4/5 stars, and I don't stray too far from the rest with that rating...
As for D-9 itself, the film goes:
"Over twenty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. Humans waited for the hostile attack, or the giant advances in technology. Neither came. Instead, the aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa’s District 9 as the world’s nations argued over what to do with them. "
May seem boring, but it goes far deeper than that, as the film touches on themes of racism, segregation, genetics, abuse and corporate greed. But to find out, you got to catch this film in theatres. ASAP. And early, as most showings have sold-out and took in an estimated rake of $37 million dollars (just from Friday-Sunday alone).
Note* it is rated 18A/R for good reason. Violence, Blood, Gore, and Intense scenes (which may cause some motion sickness) may not be suitable for children, old folks, and girls who can't seem to grow a pair to see an awesome movie.
Alice In Wonderland, live action done by Tim Burton & the magical kingdom of Disney. Released during Comicon 2009 in San Diego. Essentially a sequel, as it combines elements from Lewis Carrol's works Alice's Adventures In Wonderland and Through The Looking-Glass, Alice, now 19, is revisiting the world to help throw a revolt against the Red Queen - even though she doesn't remember when she had visited 10 years ago. Set to come out March 5, 2010 in traditional 2-D and disney digital 3-D.
Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, and Marion Cotillard came out on July 1, 2009 in North America and the UK. An American Noir Gangster film, it continues the love affair that Americans have for their notorious historical gangsters - this one, being about John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd and their infamous escapes, excapades, and the drama surrounding them in the attempt to capture them, led by Melvin Purvis. Filmed in the time period known as the "Public Enemy" era, the movie currently holds a 61% "fresh" rating @ RT. The movie runs in at 144 minutes, and is rated R for gangster violence and language.
Now, as per-tradition for me - I like to see new movies week of as long as they hold a 2.5 / 5 star rating or higher (50% and up). I will be seeing this movie come Sunday, and will write a little review after - but based on current reviews, it seems the movie is an artistic and technical wonder, with star performances from its star-studded cast and beautifully done scenes. However, the movie falls short on some of the actual drama, and some of the plot is questionable (poor script writing, anyone?). Nonetheless, the movie is still a solid film, and don't be surprised come next year February if it has a few Oscar nominations.

THE HANGOVER - sounds like a movie that's bred to be a disaster eh? I mean, who wants to watch a movie about four guys who decide to go to Las Vegas for a bachelor party, and after a promise of a good night over Jagermeister, to promptly wake up to a singed chair, chickens, a tiger in the bathroom, a baby in the closet... and the groom-to-be missing. Sounds like a mess right?
But that's the point. After a reckless night in the city of Sin, two best friends Phil (Bradley Cooper, Wedding Crashers), Stu (Ed Helms, The Office) and a brother-in-law-to-be Alan (Zach Galifianakis, Comedy Central) wake up and can't find the groom Doug (Justin Bartha, National Treasure)... or remember what happened the night before. As the day progresses on, as they find more clues as to how their night went, things start to go from bad...to worse...to those touching memories of "I'm never going to drink again" (and a healthy dose of "WTF we did WHAT last night???")
And that's what makes this movie, well, fun. It's sight gags, constant jokes, bickering, and surprises from the night before that make the movie well-paced and funny. It keeps throwing nice little twists (so that you don't question it) but enough to keep you guessing and amused throughout it. The plot is simple enough to make a plausible storyline out of it, and there's no "nah that can't happen" scenes - it's all stuff that can happen to you, and that's what makes it so funny. Not to mention the sheer contrasts of character from the cast, and the dialogue that keep it rich and constantly coming. And did I mention it's well paced (probably the only problem Old School had from being a classic) ?
If there was any comedy coming out this year, this is the one to see. I would even rate it one of the better movies of this year. It's light-hearted, yet serious enough to enjoy, and gentle yet raunchy enough to feel great about it - it'll keep you smiling and laughing as you recall your wasted nights...and days recovering from the night before.
I give it 4 stars out of 4 stars.

If you haven't seen it by now, go see the #1 opening movie of this weekend "Up" from the geniuses at Pixar Studios. By far one of the most funniest, if not the saddest animated movie I've ever seen. I saw it in 3D, but for those who are A) afraid of heights, B) motion-sickness easy, C) don't like seeing a beautiful movie through a dimmer set of lenses, I highly recommend EVERYONE to see it in 2D. I give it a 4 stars out of 4 stars (and RT gives it an overwhelming 98% based on 153 reviews), and basically all I can say is - I was entertained throughout it, felt a wide range of emotions and would love to see it again.

Pharrell Williams has dropped a short snippet of the title track from the upcoming movie Street Dreams, titled "Hoppin Over Fences". Pharrell, a huge skateboarding fan and has a street team of his own, was more than estatic to be a part of it - check it out here as he talks about it.
Derrick Cabrera, like all skateboarders, dreams of being sponsored one day. He has all the talent in the world to make it happen but some major roadblocks to overcome before he can make the dream a reality. He is receiving pressure from all sides, his parents are stressing him because he is failing in school, his girlfriend thinks he is a loser, his best friend has become his rival because he is better than him. Things come to a head after Derrick gets arrested and a fight ensues with his father resulting in him running away from home. He does the only thing he knows how to do and opts to follow his dream to the Tampa Am contest, one of the only ways an unknown skater can get noticed.

A friend of mine brought this up to me - is that fat kid from Pixar's new movie asian??? He's voiced by an Asian kid, but for a company that's usually fast on announcing the breakdown of racial barriers, Disney's kept their mouth shut on this matter....
With Hollywood in no rush to cast Asians as leads, this may be a step forward...even if its behind beautifully drawn 3D...

For those who are fans of the cult anime series Blood: The Last Vampire comes an exclusive trailer of the movie adaption set to come out in theaters May 29, 2009 (in Japan initially).

The prequel/sequel to the successful action-flick Terminator franchise, Terminator: Salvation, is coming to theaters May 21st, 2009. Starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, it is set in 2018 and features a young John Conner trying to lead the resistance against SkyNet and the machines.

The green-shelled mutant fighters are back, getting the green-light for a live-action movie featuring the 5th go-around of the Mutant Turtles. Set to be release in 2011, The Mirage Group has given the go-ahead to start filming. Announced today on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT)'s "Shell-ebration" day at NYC, the film will based on the original dozen comics created by the series' founders Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman.
TMNT will feature producers Scott Mednick (300, Superman Returns), and Galen Walker (who produced the most recent computer-animated TMNT theatrical release).
"We're excited to bring this story to a whole new generation of moviegoers as well as the legions of fans that have made the Turtles - Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael as well as Splinter, April O'Neil, Casey Jones and, of course, the great villain Shredder - a part of their world for 25 years."
