James Dewitt Yancey, otherwise known as J Dilla or Jay Dee, was a huge underground/mainstream producer from the 90's. Focusing on breakbeats, samples, funk-inspired loops and heavy drum kits, he provided unique and often soulful beats that any up-and-coming or established rapper would love to get their hands on.

Unfortunately, Jay Dee lost his battle with TTP & Lupus, and passed away on Feb. 10, 2006. His last solo offering, Donuts, provided classic old-school tracks and what could be described as "heaven on vinyl".

Jay Stay Paid (or J$P), is a 28-track collection of beats from Jay's past work, coming from DAT's and old disks. Mixed by Pete Rock, the mostly instrumental album has a few vocal tracks, including "Make It Fast" featuring Bun B & Termanology. Check the track, and cop the album which dropped yesterday.
