This week's media player features 5 traxxx from Kanye West's new album, 808's & Heartbreak.

This album features 808 drum-kit in every song, and feature the audio technique auto-tune in all songs but one. As well, the album heavily features around the theme of heartbreak...mostly due to the death of his mother.

However, this album may be the first Kanye album I don't purchase - I'm not feeling the auto-tune stuff and only really diggin' the Streetlights traxxx.

You be the judge, as his album drops on the 24th of November.

Traxxx include:
Kanye West Ft. Young Jeezy - Amazing
Kanye West Ft. Lil' Wayne - Tell Everybody You Know
Kanye West - Streetlights
Kanye West - Robocop
Kanye West - Coldest Winter

KANYE WEST - STREET LIGHTS

11/14/2008 04:54:00 PM 0 comments

One of the many traxxx leaked onto the net - from his new album 808's & Heartbreak, Kanye is set to release an album that lacks the usual in-your-face-I-don't-give-a-shit rapping to I-don't-give-a-fuck singing.

On using auto-tune for the MAJORITY of his songs, he says, and I quote,

"What I want is for people to realize at this point is, I don't give a fuck. That's why I made this album. I'm using auto-tune because I don't give a fuck. I like the way it sounds."

I've kept quiet about this, but I wanted it to die down a bit before I posted on it.

I for one am glad on the epic win that Barack Obama achieved this past week. Not only does it usher in a new era of politics, but also a new standard and breaking down of old beliefs. Although he'll be the first president to inherit 2 wars, an economic crisis, and nuclear profliferation, I believe he is more than capable in doing something grand. The world is there with me in my belief in this, as it holds its breath in the next few months.

To celebrate, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, already anticipating a win for Obama created the song It's A New Day and released it the day after the election.

Art of Fresh

11/08/2008 06:48:00 PM 0 comments

I was tuning into MuchMusic just last night and I watched this interesting, funk-inspired mellow music video, and I had to get my hands on it.

I discovered it was a Canadian Hip-Hop group called Art of Fresh. Consisting of Duane Gibson "D.O." aka "Defy the Odds", and Byram Joseph, aka Slakah the Beatchild, their latest album "Back to the Earth" is a unique platter of soul-inspired funk with early 90's hip-hop - essentially the Golden Era of Hip-Hop.

Check out their video below for their latest single, "Out Of This World", and peep the track. If you like the track, get the album by clicking here to get it!

So for those who don't know, Gears of War is by far one of the best Adventure/Action/TPS games out right now - and for the Xbox 360 - despite the first game of three being a bit short on the single-player/co-op mode.

That being said, Epic Games is proud to present Gears of War 2, being released everywhere November 7, 2008. This time around, humanity is in extreme danger of being extinct, and the COGS have decided to launch a massive counter-offensive to ensure that they will still be breathing by next week.

Check out this official trailer named "Rendezvous" and get a pre-order of Gears of War 2 today!

I personally can't wait to get my hands on this game - who wouldn't like to see Locust guts and gore splatter on your screen from the chainsaw??? :D

W.

10/15/2008 03:40:00 PM , 0 comments

W.

That's what it is simply called. Originally to be called Bush, famous liberal director Oliver Stone has created "an honest portrayal" of the 43rd United States of America President, George W. Bush, Jr.

With Josh Brolin (No Country For Old Men) starring as W., he does an uncanny good imitation of the real one - he just doesn't look like him.

This film is to be based on Bush, Jr.'s initial stage where he is an alcoholic "bum", finds God, and becomes one of the world's most controversial public figures.

I will update more after I see an advanced screening tonight - Check out the trailer below.

On another note, I will be updating the flash player with new music, as well as providing links to some new songs this week, sometime today or tomorrow.

Here's the review I wrote up for the Gazette, should be appearing sometime this week in the A&E section:

Ne-Yo
Year of the Gentleman
Def Jam
4/5 Stars

Ne-yo brings in the Year of the Gentleman, his third offering into the world of love, break-ups, tears, and admiration of the women around him.

While the album follows his usual heart-on-sleeve falsetto style, he brings about a more mature side to his work citing influences from the Rat Pack, including Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davies, Jr. “Trying to take it back to where you couldn’t walk out of the house unless you looked your best,” his aim was to personify the attitude into this album’s tracks.

And that he did – with the exception of ‘Closer’, a departure from his slow-paced songs, about his intoxication with a woman and inability to break apart from her, and ‘Nobody’; the rest of his album offers the heart-warming (and breaking) music that he is known to sing and write.

With songs like ‘Mad’, ‘So You Can Cry’, and ‘Part of the List’ bleeding tears from his heart, and new single ‘Miss Independent’ praising the modern woman who ‘moves like a boss…’, Ne-yo sings up a storm of emotion and respect so well that it will have you wondering if you should start taking notes from him.

His ability to pen master hits, as well as having a voice that is early Jackson-esque, Ne-yo succeeds in creating a well-pressed album, filled with the soft, sweeter side of R&B opposed to the more explicit music offered by the likes of Usher this past summer. Ne-yo shows that with the Fall can come a new kind of Gentleman, one that loves his woman and genuinely cares for her – while doing it in style too.

STAND OUT TRACKS: Closer, Mad, Miss Independent, So You Can Cry, Stop the World
TRACKS TO SKIP: Nobody, Back to What You Know

Where to turn now?

6/28/2008 04:21:00 AM 0 comments

When is it time to turn?

Is it that one? Or the next? Do I keep going or stop?

It's interesting to see how such little things push and pull you one way or another...

It's also interesting to see how the lack of such little things push and pull you even further...

All I do is keep going forward...and wait for the new dawn of the next day to see where it will lead me.

Hopefully the right way.

And hopefully with the people who do it the right way.

I O N I Z E

4/07/2008 06:02:00 PM 0 comments

This track is sick - I first heard it on Digitally Imported, an online digital trance/techno/vocal/progressive/jungle/ambiance/lounge, etc... radio site. I spent a few days looking, and I found a short radio edit version of it -

Ionize (Radio Edit), is done by Ozone (an alias for Jezper Söderlund - which is not to be confused with Maldovian pop-group O-zone who released the now famous "Dragostea din tei").

Enjoy!!!
